Just a stone’s throw away from the buzz of Covent Garden, and at the heart of London Fashion Week, is London’s latest 5 star hotel – Rosewood London. Combining English heritage with contemporary sophistication, Rosewood London opened its doors in October 2013 following a transformation of a 1914 Edwardian Belle Époque building on High Holborn. The renovation included a restoration of the Grade II-listed street frontage and dome and the grand marble Pavonazzo staircase, which rises through all seven storeys of the hotel.
Upon our arrival at Rosewood London we entered through the courtyard into the grand reception area, where our Butler, Jose, greeted us and showed us to our suite for the evening. The rooms are inspired by the style of a traditional British manor house, including features such as lacquer, textured wood veneers and prismatic mirrors. The in-room private bar boasts a huge array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks at your disposal with a Nespresso machine providing the perfect morning coffee. The impressive bathroom features fine Italian marble, hand-beaten alpaca silver finishes and toiletries by Czech & Speake. If you’re fortunate enough to stay in one of the 44 suites, you’ll enjoy a personal butler, a spacious living room area and two bathrooms if you feel one is not quite enough!
After a fantastic night’s sleep in fine Italian bedding with window shutters that made it permanently night-time, we didn’t make it outside of our room to try any of the hotel’s other 5 star amenities. By our midday check-out time, we didn’t want to leave.
