BOND STREET ILLUMINATIONS

Last night we saw Bond Street, the home of our flagship store, take centre stage as the festive illuminations were switched on.

The inspiration behind the quarter of a million elegant lamps displayed tells the story of the history of Bond Street itself. These wonderful illuminations display glorious white peacocks which were chosen because in the late 1700’s, Bond Street was the favourite destination of ‘The Bond Street Loungers’. They were a group of dapper men who promenaded the street and became the early fashionistas or ‘peacocks’ of their day. It is the gentleman of this era that the display has been dedicated to.

To celebrate the turning on of the illuminations Bond Street was joined by ‘The Loungers’ as well as the Deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Robert Davis. Followed by the official party in our DAKS store.
